The focus on protection and defence of others is expressed in the Ling Gesar gTérma as Natural Heroism[1], which is both a religious vocation and a way of experiencing the world. The topic of Natural Heroism involves the fact that the warriors of the kingdom of Ling may die at any moment, if not on the battlefield of life — then from sickness, old age, or accidents. In knowing this fact—and following the steps of the Natural Heroes of Ling Gésar—we must face our life situations as they are. We must see ourselves as we are. We cannot avoid life. There is no one who is going to save us from life. If we are warriors, we need to accept the fact that death will happen, sooner or later.
