Kyabjé Künzang Dorje Rinpoche teaching on Dzogchen Men-ngag-dé in 1976

Ngak’chang Rinpoche wrote: ‘In my last few days with Künzang Dorje Rinpoche in Tso Pema (mTsho pa dMa / མཚོ་པདྨ་ / Rewalsar) — Rinpoche decided to give me transmission of Dzogchen Men-ngag-dé (rDzogs chen man ngag sDe / རྫོགས་ཆེན་མན་ངག་སྡེ་).

He wanted me to write his words down, in detail, in order that I would never forget what he had explained.

Rinpoche told me that the nature of what he’d say would be transmission — and by dwelling on these words at later times — the transmission would return.

He also told me that when I reached his age — I should make his words available to others. I have now reached the age of 67 — so I now make the words of Künzang Dorje Rinpoche available.

༄Clarity is the understanding that samsara and nirvana are both born from the nature of Mind. The nature mind cannot be examined with intellect. It can only be experienced — and when experienced it is found to be luminous emptiness.

༄There is no sentience whose ground is not the nondual state.The primordial ground is uninfluenced by causality. Discriminating between pure and impure is purposeless. The primordial ground is self-present - and the meditation systems which accord with paths are not required.
The primordial ground is free of the accomplishments of results.
༄It is complete from beginninglessness.
It is free of language. It is beyond the need of signs or symbols. It is not accessible by thought and is the thus free from intellectual toil. It is the inseparability of awareness and emptiness.
༄So, whatever occurs, remain joyfully in the state of unoriginated changless clarity in which everything is self-liberating exactly where it is.

༄When you see your original nature — how you are, is no different to how the Buddhas are — and there will be no need to search for anything anymore. Dwelling in the ground of Being is not altered by external phenomena — because inner and outer phenomena are no longer artificially divided.

༄When you recognise the ground of being — there will be no interruption to the spontaneous display of phenomena.
There will be no prevarication or vacillation.

༄If unwelcome concepts of pure and impure arise — simply remain without artifice — shining in your own space. ་By continuously remaining in this clarity and awareness you will experience self-liberation of whatever arises. With continuous absorption in non-meditation, any remaining obscurations will diminish.

༄It is no use grasping at religious analytic philosophy — when naked awareness has already been uncovered.
The state of original knowingness—in that instant—is actualised in totality. There are many philosophers who explain that phenomena are empty — but awareness and emptiness are simultaneous.

༄This is demonstrated in the fourth phase of empowerment — but that is your current presence. It is beyond judgement as existing or not existing. It is instant liberation. ་It is without artifice. It is immediately at ease in infinite completion.
