Seng-gé Dorje

Ngakpa Seng-gé Dorjé grew up in the San Joaquin Valley of California surrounded by the Oakies, Hippies, Bikers, Cowboys and Mexican culture which plays a central role in the making of California culture. At a young age he was enthralled with music and found the natural dimension in which sound plays to be delightful. When in college, he began practicing Buddhism in an effort to better understand the relationship between phenomena and happiness. After completing the requirements for ngakpa ordination, and with the blessing of Kyabje Kunzang Dorjé Rinpoche, Seng-gé was ordained as a Ngakpa in Baarlo, Netherlands in 2000.

Ngakpa Seng-gé Dorjé is a married practitioner with two children. His wife, Dickey, comes from a family of ngak’phang practitioners who once lived on the border of Tibet/Nepal, but now reside in the Dickey Larsoe Tibetan settlement in Bylakuppe, India. Ngakpa Seng-gé has traveled to India and Nepal both on pilgrimage and time with his in-laws. As well, he is a public school teacher and amateur musician. Living such an ordinary life informs his teaching style which is down-to-earth.

Ngakpa Seng-gé Dorjé has made special emphasis upon the study of Madhyamaka and of the writings of Mipham Rinpoche and Longchenpa. He specializes in Mahayoga ritual, fire rituals (sang offerings), the practice of Namkha, Vajra song, the ritual aspects of Kurukulla practice. He also practices the Phurba Yidams found in the Aro gTér.
