These are hagiographies — but recounted in such a way as to bring the Mahasiddhas to life as real people with individual personalities. For anyone who enjoyed Ngak’chang Rinpoche’s book ‘Wisdom Eccentrics’ — these stories have that same fresh immediate quality.

Like ‘Wisdom Eccentrics’ the stories are interleaved with question by the student — but in this instance Ngakma Mé-tsal Wangmo is the student and Ngak’chang Rinpoche is the teacher. For those who met Kyabjé Künzang Dorje Rinpoche — the teacher of Ngak’chang Rinpoche, he is very much present in the exchanges — as he Ngakma Mé-tsal also spent time with him and his Sangyum — Jomo Sam‘phel Déchen Rinpoche.

These gTérma of hagiographies is unique in providing the Dzogchen Men-ngag-dé practice of each Mahasiddha within the body of the text. There are also mantra and visualisation practices which can be obtained on retreats given by Ngakma Mé-tsal.
Each volume contains 21 hagiogpthies — each with a line drawing by Khandro Déchen — the Sangyum of Ngak’chang Rinpoche. Each volume Also contains maps of the area with the towns and regions mentioned.

The book is introduced by Kyabjé Lhatsé Trülku Rinpoche — a prestigious Tibetan Lama of the Palyül Nyingma Tradition, who is an authority on the Mahasiddhas and the geography of Ögyen (o rGyan / ཨོ་རྒྱན་ / Uddhiyana).
