Weekend event with Shardröl Du-nyam Wangmo

Anyone can learn to draw, but many of us have been told that some people have the talent to be artists and the rest of us do not. Learning to draw is really learning how to see - how to let go of our concepts and experience the visual world directly.

In meditation we learn how to allow ourselves to have direct experience rather than explaining the world to ourselves with concept. The techniques we use in meditation are the same as what we use when we learn how to see like an artist.

In this course we will learn the Four Naljors - techniques of meditation from the Aro gTér lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. We will also do exercises that involve drawing, both with pencil and in color. Through alternating the experience of meditation practice with drawing practice we will come to understand how the same process is involved in both. We will find that, however we began - as beginners or experienced artists - our drawing will improve as we learn to see what is actually there rather than what we think is there.

All materials will be provided. No previous drawing experience necessary.

Translation to Finnish and Swedish on request.
