Lingtsang Gyalpo
Lingtsang Gyalpo (gLing tshang rGyal po / གླིང་ཚང་རྒྱལ་པོ་) The Lord of Lingtsang, was a gTértön and an unsurpassed Phurba Master of the Nyingma Tradition. He was an incarnation of gLing Gésar the Realised Tibetan Warrior King. He was the cousin of ‘a-Shül Pema Legden He was known for his unswerving unstinting kindness to all - no matter how high or low their station in life.
He was possessed of siddhis (supernormal attainments) due to his astounding command of Phurba practice.
He is famous as a gTértön for his discovery of the tsé-yum tsendali, a long-life practice based on Chandali, consort to 'ö-Pag’mèd. His Root Teacher was Jamyang Khyentsé Wangpo and he was one of the major teachers of Dzongsar Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö.
He had three sons and one daughter, Khandro Déchen Tso, who became the mother of Jomo Tséring Chödrön Rinpoche - one of the foremost female practitioners of Vajrayana.
Lingtsang Gyalpo took mahaparinirvana in Dzong-ri Lingtsang in 1942 — and his Gyalpo title was passed to his son Phüntsog Gelek Rabten Rinpoche. He had 5 children, of whom 2 are still alive, a son, Sé Jig’mé, living in Chengdu and a daughter, Khandro Tséring Drölkar, in Dehradun.
Lingtsang Gyalpo was a relative of ’a-Shül Pema Legden (‘a shul pa dMa legs lDan / འ་ཤུལ་པདྨ་ལེགས་ལྡན་) the previous incarnation of Drüpchen gTértön Aro Yeshé.
The incarnation of gTértön Aro Yeshe—Ngak’chang Rinpoche—is the current custodian of Lingtsang Gyalpo's phurba (made by Ling Gésar). This phurba was given to ‘Khordong gTérchen Tulku Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche by Phüntsog Gelek Rabten Rinpoche the son of Lingtsang Gyalpo — and he passed it on to Ngak’chang Rinpoche because of ‘a-Shül Pema Legden’s family connection with Lingtsang Gyalpo.
