Ngakma Shardröl Du-nyam Wangmo was ordained in 1993 and has been teaching as a Lama since 1997.

Ngakma Shardröl teaches with a natural unpretentious humility that invites people into the space of her generous and whimsical presence. She has a unique sense of humour – combining a remarkably subtle intellect with street-wise non-intellectual directness. She is known for giving radically insightful teachings in the form of commentaries on Ngak’chang Rinpoche’s poetry. Particularly prominent in her broad range of teaching are yogic song and the dimension of Dzogchen which clarifies the nature of perception.

Ngakma Shardröl is writing a book about her training with Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen called A Hundred Thousand Cannibal Owls are Satisfied and Happy. The book will deal with the way she has learned from the personality displays of the Lamas in many and varied setting across three continents. The book draws on over three hundred answers she received in answer to her letters to Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen.

Prior to devoting her full time to teaching, Ngakma Shardröl worked as a masseuse, editor, typographer, and web designer.

Ngakma Shardröl is the editor of all Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen’s books. She also helps Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen with a variety of personal projects connected with térma – such as the fabrication of the various lineage empowerment shawls.

Ngakma Shardröl has led five pilgrimages to Nepal and spent several winter seasons living there and undertaking projects there at the behest of her Lamas. She has a close relationship with Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen’s own Root Lamas—Kyabjé Künzang Dorje Rinpoche and Jomo Sam’phel—who live there.
