aro-ling-shrine

A very special opportunity to see a film of the late, great Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche teaching on art & Buddhism (with contributions from Allen Ginsberg & Anne di Prima).

One of the most influential teachers of Tibetan Buddhism in the west, Trungpa Rinpoche emphasised again and again that his teaching should not be viewed as an exotic foreign import, but as something utterly immediate and relevant to everybody. His understanding of, and interest in the western mind-set allowed him to transmit the dharma with an uncompromising clarity, and central to his approach was his utilising of western cultural forms. He was associated with some of the leading artists of his time – Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, John Cage and Meredith Monk amongst them – and found in their approach to experimentation a curiosity and open-mindedness that was fertile ground to receive and understand his teaching.

Join us to explore a legacy which we are still learning to unravel over 20 years after Trungpa Rinpoche’s death.
