Class with Shé-zér Khandro & Namgyal Dorje

aro-ling-shrine

The course covers the teachings and practices of four important Tibetan Buddhist yoginis including Yeshé Tsogyel and Aro Lingma. It will illustrate the essential aspects of tantra from the lives of enlightened women of previous centuries. The teachings contained within their extraordinary lives are practical and profound.

There are 3 distinct yet compatible approaches within Buddhism: self-liberation, transformation and renunciation. Tantra is the approach of transformation – the transformation of our conflictive emotional energy into the unrestricted energy of being. Our emotions are problematic only if we take them seriously, as hard-wired facts. Our emotions only control us when we suppose they mean something about ourselves and the world. The practices of Tantra allow us to enjoy emotional energy fully without suppression, analysis, judgement, fixation or needing to inflict it on others.

The course will explore: emptiness, form and non-duality, the yanas, awareness-being practice, working with a Tantric teacher and the nature of transmission. The practices taught will include silent sitting meditation, vajra song, visualisation, mantra recitation and self-arising.
