Spectrum of Being
Introduction to Meditation Course 2 - using the emotions as the basis for meditation
Class with Shé-zér Khandro, Namgyal Dorje & Mé-tsal Wangmo
UK In-person only
This is the second course in the ‘Introduction to Meditation’ series being run in Bristol by Ngakma Mé-tsal, Ngakma Shé-zér and Ngakpa Namgyal. Although it is beneficial to have attended Course One – ‘Roaring Silence’ – it is not a pre-requisite.
During ‘Spectrum of Being’ we will explore both the deluded and the liberated qualities of our emotional experiences, and how the emotions can serve as the basis for our meditation practice. The sessions will be complemented by instruction on a series of vajra melodies – sung mantra which are useful for common emotional states such as anger, frustration, sadness and bewilderment.
Week seven will comprise a formal transmission into the practice of Dzogchen Trèk-chöd, the meditation practice used for transforming the emotions from their deluded to their liberated states. This transmission will be given by Lamas Nor’dzin and ’ö-Dzin – married teachers from the Aro Tradition who will be our honored guests for this final session.
Recommended reading for the course are the article ‘Embracing Emotions as the Path’ and the book Spectrum of Ecstasy.
Tuesday evenings, 7.30pm-9.00pm. Course commences January 30th and runs for seven weeks to March 13th.
