December—the month of festivities—can be overwhelmed with merriment and celebration. The shops are full of wonderful things to appreciate, food and drink is available everywhere, and we are encouraged to party. It can be easy to forget silence, and the importance of encouraging silence in our minds. We may forget the value of learning to be comfortable with silence and emptiness. Discovering silence, and spaciousness of mind, increases our capacity to appreciate. It increases our capacity to be present and aware at all times. It enables us to party with awareness and presence and fully enjoy celebration, whilst also ensuring that those around us are recognised and included in the joyful space of our awareness. Silence and presence of mind produces kind people. It also encourage spontaneous playfulness.

In this day of Vajrayana teachings, Ngakma Nor’dzin and Ngakpa ’ö-Dzin will explore the methods of Vajrayana practice that encourage silence and space in the Mind. There may also be mince pies to share in the tea break!

Ngakma Nor’dzin and Ngakpa ’ö-Dzin are a teaching couple of the Aro gTér Lineage.
