Roaring Silence and Moving Being
Teachings from the Aro gTér on the Four Naljors and on sKu-mNyé
Weekend event with Ngak’chang Rinpoche & Khandro Déchen
Austria In-person only
On this weekend Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen will give an introduction to specific methods of silent sitting and physical yogas from the Aro gTér. The approach to silent sitting meditation practice is from the perspective of the Dzogchen tradition and involves the Four Naljors of Dzogchen Sem-dé, which are “the four methods of remaining in the natural state.” This perspective is both practical and vast. Dzogchen means discovering the unfabricated enlightened nature of mind, from which we have never been separated.
The body of physical exercises which is called sKu-mNyé belongs to the rare teachings of Dzogchen Long-dé – the ‘series of the vast expanse’. It is a system of physical movements which give rise to profound sensations of intimacy with the elements. Various other systems of Tibetan physical exercise are taught in the West (some better known as kum nye) but Aro sKu-mNyé bears no relation to them. It is possible that those who are prepared to experience themselves and their world in a different way, may learn that there is a very real and accessible interaction between the inner and outer elements. Once the gentle thunder of this connection has been experienced it is no longer possible to be dominated by: boredom; fear; neurotic obsession; paranoia; or depression.
On this retreat sessions of teaching, silent sitting and sKu-mNyé will alternate. There will also be ample time for asking questions and seeking clarification. Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen are known for their approachability, humour, and delight in answering questions.
‘The sound of the vulture’s flight through the mirror of space is the method of practice. The white vulture, glides effortlessly above the mountain range; yet the snow and rock remain — and Mind discovers itself in free space. The vulture has no fear of terrible heights — because the mirror of sky is her natural home.’ Khandro Déchen
