Teaching with Nor’dzin Pamo

aro-ling-shrine

The creation of embroidered appliqué thangkas is an ancient tradition in Tibetan Buddhism. Painted thangkas can be fragile, whereas fabric thangkas can be folded and transported without risk of damage. In the Aro tradition appliqué thangkas have been used at Buddhist gatherings for more than a decade to transform ordinary meeting rooms into shrine rooms.

The day will be taught by Ngakma Nor'dzin, a skilled craftswoman who has led projects to create appliqués of Yeshé Tsogyel and Aro Lingma. Please call in to the centre to see her work on show. In this workshop she offers the opportunity to make a small appliqué of a Buddhist motif such as a lotus flower, tiger or scorpion - suitable for a cushion cover or bag.
