Amulets - Saturday Morning Sampler
Woven designs
Teaching with Nor’dzin Pamo

In-person only
The creation of amulets is an ancient Tibetan craft. They are particularly associated with healing and protection, as amulets contain mantra, syllables and sometimes herbs. The decorative form of an amulet is both functional and symbolic. The amulet is woven while reciting mantra and the threads contain and secure its contents. Designs used for amulets include the five colours of the elements, the colours of the psycho-physical channels, and symbols such as the eternal knot, yungdrung and mandala. Ngakma Nor’dzin will explain the use of amulets and how to create them. The simple designs are quite straightforward and all attendees will be able to create an amulet to take away to wear, or hang up at home. These Saturday sampler sessions start at the beginning of May 2014 and run through till July. Each one runs from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Supervised children welcome and most of the sessions are suitable for them to enjoy joining in. Do come along and find out about a variety of subjects.
